ANDERSON, CALIFORNIA (September 22, 2016) – Dave Reed Racing will enter the inaugural race for the West Coast Sportsman, entering the #44 Approved Memory TOYOTA with Anderson, CA's Derek Copeland behind the wheel. 75 laps are scheduled for the West Coast Sportsman iPull-u-Pull Challenge at LoanMart Madera Speedway on Saturday October 1st. The non-points race unveils the series that is a team-driven initiative to utilize cars formerly used in the West Series.

Copeland, 25, comes to the series with extensive experience as both as a driver and a crew member, competing in Outlaw Karts, Legends cars and Late Models throughout his race career. He is a two-time Outlaw Kart champion, 2007 California State Legends champion and Legends of the Pacific champion, and multi-time Shasta Speedway Late Model main event winner.

He has crewed for teams in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West and Pacific Challenge Series among others, currently holding a role on the JD Motorsports team that leads the PCS standings.

"I think the series is a great idea," Copeland said. "There's a lot of cars out there sitting. I think that the series will bring good affordable racing and can be a good stepping stone into the West Series. My goals for this race are to put on a good race for the fans and compete for the win."

The West Coast Sportsman 75 will be a split feature, with 50 laps around the one-third mile Madera Speedway, followed by several other divisions running their main events, before the final 25 lap segment. Teams can make any adjustments they desire during the break but they must use the same set of American Racer Tires throughout the entire day's practice, qualifying, and race.

"We are really excited to have the opportunity to participate in a brand-new series," Reed said. "This is going to give a lot of people the chance to use existing equipment to give deserving drivers an affordable opportunity to compete. Derek fits that mold perfectly for us as a springboard to next year."

A full 2017 season is being planned for Dave Reed Racing and the West Coast Sportsman, pending the performance of the series in this debut race. All indications are for a strong first race with the support of Kenny Shepherd at Madera Speedway including the possibility of MAVTV television coverage as well.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 20, 2016) - With just two races left in the 2016 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West season, Ryan Partridge is running out of time to chase down championship leader Todd Gilliland. He will get his penultimate opportunity Saturday at Idaho's Meridian Speedway.

Gilliland, 16, from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, holds a 13-point lead over Partridge, 28, from Rancho Cucamonga, California, headed into the NAPA Auto Parts/Idaho 208.

The two championship contenders have been dueling for the top spot all season long, swapping the lead only three times. Gilliland, a member of the 2016 NASCAR Next class, held the lead up until a misfortune at Sonoma opened the door for Partridge to take first in the standings. The veteran's held that spot for two events before Gilliland took it back with the first of three straight wins.

Partridge returned to Victory Lane at Oregon's Douglas County Speedway at the end of August to cut into Gilliland's lead, but the rookie scored back-to-back runner-up finishes on the Utah road-course to open up the gap again.

Sunoco Rookie of the Year Clinch: Todd Gilliland could clinch the Sunoco Rookie of the Year award this weekend at Meridian. The rookie currently holds at 15-point lead over Bill McAnally Racing teammate Riley Herbst (109-94). To walk away with the trophy, Gilliland has to leave Meridian with a 10-point lead over Herbst in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings.

Gragson Looks To Keep Hot Streak Alive: Noah Gragson will look to keep his win streak alive this weekend at Meridian. The 17-year-old from Las Vegas, Nevada, won both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West doubleheader events at Utah Motorsports Park and followed it up with another road course win last weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. The NASCAR Next driver has the odds in his favor, he won last year's NAPA Auto Parts/Idaho 208 after starting on the pole. The defending race winner, sits 37 points back of Gilliland in the championship standings. Gragson must remain within 48 points of Gilliland after Meridian to remain in contention.

Series Performance At Quarter-Mile Ovals: The K&N Pro Series West has competed at two other quarter-mile ovals this season: California's Orange Show Speedway and fellow Idaho track, Stateline Speedway. At each race, Bill McAnally Racing was the team to beat with Chris Eggleston winning at Orange Show and Todd Gilliland taking the win at Stateline.

Newhouse Returns: Local Idaho favorite Hannah Newhouse will return to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Saturday at her home track with Jefferson Pitts Racing. Newhouse competed with the team this year at the season opener at California's Irwindale Speedway and finished seventh. Newhouse won Meridian's NAPA Big 5 Late Model Division 9 championship this year.

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (September 20, 2016) - The 11th and penultimate race of the 2016 Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com hits the track Saturday at Roseville's All American Speedway. North State Modifieds and the inaugural Street Stock and Bomber stampede for $800 to win will encompass the "Fall Classic" program.

Saturday's races kick off three PCS events in four weeks, with Saturday's Roseville race and the October 1st Ukiah event to wrap up the championship followed by the 3rd Annual October Classic 100 non-points race on October 15th.

"I love Roseville. Roseville's a great track with a lot of racing room," Romero said. "A lot of good clean hard fast racing. You can run side-by-side a lot. It is one of the best places to go for good short track racing."

The championship picture for PCS came into focus after Tri Holiday Classic #3 on September 3rd, where Eagle, ID's Travis Milburn scored a $2500 victory in a close win over Manteca's Jacob Gomes. Points leader Jeremy Doss, the 2012 champion out of Upperlake, CA, suffered a slight misstep with a seventh place finish but was one better than 2014 champion Mike Beeler of Modesto, CA in a critical battle for the championship.

With the series championship taking into account the best nine finishes, and Doss accumulating eight top-fives including six top-twos, he is closing in on putting the championship away. Beeler, also with two wins this season, needs a "home run ball" over the last two races to have any chance at the championship. With drop races factored in, Doss currently enjoys a 14 point advantage over Beeler.

Tracy's Jeff Bischofberger and Manteca's JR Courage are in the midst of a great battle for third in the points. Courage leads Bischofberger by 34 points on total points earned but Bischofberger holds third by only four markers after drops. Bischofberger finished sixth in the Stockton event. Granite Bay's Cole Moore has leapt all the way to fifth in the points after drops despite a partial schedule. Despite only seven starts, a strong fourth place effort at Stockton has him squarely in contention for a top-five in the points.

"The track at Roseville is very meaningful for me. My brother's memorial is there for one," Moore said. "It is a really good track for racing. You can run the inside and the outside. It is super fun and I'm excited to get back there."

Rookie Matt Wendt will be the top contender with Moore for fifth in the standings, and after a strong start to the year is looking for his first top-five since the last Roseville event in June. Granite Bay's John Moore is also in the mix for fifth overall after third and fifth place finishes in his last two PCS starts.

The momentum from Valley Springs' Tracy Bolin's third place finish at Madera was nullified with a crash at Stockton. The incident came when race leader Jason Romero was spun by Ross Strmiska, with Bolin having nowhere to go as he made hard contact with Romero. Both drivers hope to recover strong at Roseville. Romero has been one of the biggest instant successes in PCS with fast-time awards at both Stockton and Madera along with sweeping both Roseville races.

Elk Grove's Mike Hite, Manteca's Jacob Gomes, Hayward's Danny Malfatti, Milburn, and Loomis' Chris Scribner are among those dueling for the final positions in the top-ten in the standings. Scribner has eight career Roseville PCS starts but is still looking for his first series win at the venue.

Activities get underway Friday with practice beginning at 3:30 p.m. Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. On Saturday, pit gates will open at 1 p.m. with practices at 2 p.m., qualifying at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m. Adult tickets are just $15 with Children (6-15) $7.00, Seniors (60+) $7.00, and Children under 6 are FREE. With only 2 events left in the North State Modified Series, presented by Protect the Harvest, the points battle is tightening up. Defending champion and current points leader Darrin Knight of Kelseyville has a healthy 87 point lead over second place Charlie Collins of Lakeport. However Collins is only 11 points ahead of Kelseyville's Darrin Sullivan. Mike Collins of Lakeport trails Sullivan by a mere 14 points. Codi Barba of Cobb sits in fifth, 68 points behind Mike Collins.

Sierra Furia of Lakeport moved up in the standings after her ninth place finish at Ukiah Speedway last month and currently sits in sixth place overall. Sacramento driver Jason Philpot is 15 points behind Furia. Oregon's Rich Cobb is eighth followed by Richie Potts of Petaluma. Another Kelseyville driver, Bryan Denton rounds out the top 10 contenders.

The final two points races for the North State Modified Series will be back-to-back – September 24th at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA, and October 1st at Shasta Speedway in Anderson. The Roseville race will be with the Pacific Challenge Series Late Models during the AAS annual Fall Classic. Also on the racing card are the Roseville street stocks. Friday practice begins at 3:00 pm.

The October 1 Shasta event will be the “Lloyd Burton Against the Wind Challenge” with $1500 to win and $300 to start. Burton, a long-time supporter of auto racing in the Redding-Chico area, was the head official at Shasta Speedway when the facility was promoted by Bob Carrel in the 1990s. He was also the founder of the Northern California Auto Racing Alumni (NCARA.) Burton's brother-in-law, Mort Houston, along with other family members, friends, NCARA, Strauss Promotions and NSMS have added $5000 to the purse to make it a special event. It will also be the championship event for the North State Modified Series.

Mini stock points leader #39 Gary Klinetobe hopes to hold on to his lead

The 2016 track championships at Redwood Acres Raceway in five of the six divisions are set to be decided this Saturday September 24th. While the late model championship was determined on September 10th, champions in the roadrunners, bombers, mini stocks, Legends, Thunder Roadsters will be decided on what is Maxwell’s Custom Automobiles Night at the Races.

The most points that can be earned in all five divisions on the night is 43. Any driver within a 43 point margin of the leader is mathematically still alive in the title hunt though of course the odds of making that much ground up are very low and would require the leader to miss an entire night’s worth of action on Saturday.

Tyler Peach currently leads the standings in the California State and Federal Employees Credit Union roadrunner division. Steve Paiment is second and was the early season leader in the standings but late season misfortune has cost him dearly as he is 25 points behind Peach. Dominic Vogelsang and Bethany Rapp are 40 and 42 points behind. Rookie, Patrick Sproul is fifth in standings and 45 markers behind Peach.

The title in the Fortuna Wheel and Brake bomber class was decided in the most recent event on September 10th. James Moore left that race with a 112 point lead, more than enough to clinch the 2016 championship in the class. The battle for second is a tight one as a single point separates Ryan Ahrens and John Lally. Kimberly Sorrels is secured in fourth while Tyler Avelar is fifth in the standings.

The Humboldt Hydroponics mini stock division is a three-man race with only six points separating the top three drivers. Gary Klinetobe currently holds a five point edge over Jarrett Mayo while Eugene Palmer is a point behind Mayo. Rick Estes is fourth in the standings and has been on a tear as of late in spite of missing a couple early season races. Daniel Buell is fifth and has had a strong rookie campaign in 2016.

In the Legends division, Robert Miller has a strong 29 point lead over Brad Curtice in second place. As long as Miller starts the main event, the inaugural RAR Legends championship will be his. Anissa Curtice is third in points with Brent Mack and M’Kinzy Uselton rounding out the top five in the division standings.

Tommy Payne’s lead in the Thunder Roadster division is seven points over Ronnie O’Neil. The two have raced hard all season long and often have finished near each other which will make O’Neil’s path to the title very difficult. Aaron Byers and Donnie Brown are tied for third but are 38 points in arrears to Payne. LeRoy Marsh, Jr. is fifth but well out of championship contention.

Mic Moulton wrapped up the 2016 Mid City Motor World late model track championship on September 10th thanks in part to David Henderson who subbed for Moulton in the final point race. Moulton was forced to miss the event due to an injury. Henderson was able to finish second in the main event to secure Moulton’s second late model championship at the Acres. The final point margin in the late models was 15 markers.

Second place in the standings was Marty Walsh who had a strong 2016 season. Perhaps the biggest factor as to what cost Walsh this year’s championship was a blown engine on the July 2nd Firecracker 100 event. Walsh was unable to start the feature event which resulted in no points on the night. Had Walsh been able to just start and park that race, he would have earned 16 points, 1 point more than Moulton in the final standings. Richard Knight placed third in the late model points just beating out Kenny Demello for the position. Rookie driver, Eddie Klein had several impressive runs in his rookie campaign and was fifth in the standings.

As mentioned, racing at Redwood Acres Raceway returns this Saturday September 24th for the final points race of the season presented by Maxwell’s Custom Automobiles. In addition to the championships being decided in the local divisions, the second boat race of the season will take place at the end of the night. Grandstands open at 5:00 PM while racing begins at 6:30 PM.

2016 at the Acres concludes October 7th, 8th, and 9th with the return of the Fall Spectacular. Late models and modifieds highlight the event while roadrunners, bombers, mini stocks, Legends and Thunder Roadsters will also be in action. MADERA, CALIFORNIA (September 17, 2016) - The 45th Harvest Classic at the LoanMart Madera Speedway brought out a complete night of open wheel horsepower combined with multi-engine tractor pulls and vintage Super Modifieds on Saturday night. Cody Gerhardt took over the Madera Western Winged Sprint points with a big victory while Chad Nichols dominated for a strong BCRA Midget win.

Rookie Dylan Nobile took quick time in qualifying over his teammate Gerhardt, and they occupied the third row of the 30 lap feature televised on MAVTV. Justin Kawahata of Clovis took the lead on the opening lap from the outside of incoming points leader Tom Baker of Carmichael. Chowchilla's Eric Humphries fell backwards to sixth from the third starting position allowing Winton's Gordon Rogers to snake into third. Gerhardt jumped inside Rogers to challenge for third and ended up going two for one when Baker swung wide in turn four.

With Gerhardt up into second on only the fifth lap, he turned his attention to Kawahata. He reeled in the rookie and took over the top spot on lap 12. Nobile followed suit to take second on lap 14. On the 15th lap, car #15 of Humphries fell out of the race with mechanical problems.

Kawahata and Rogers staged a nice battle for third with a 26 year-old and a 62 year-old dueling. Gerhardt managed to maintain a solid lead on Nobile across the finish line in the six minute, 31 second main with Kawahata taking a well deserved third-place finish over Rogers and Baker.

Chad Nichols of Colma had no trouble motoring away for one of the most substantial winning margins of the year in the BCRA Midget 30 lap feature. His margin of victory was 9.7 seconds at nearly 2/3rds of a lap. Antioch's Nick Foster, Jr. led the opening three laps of the race but the three-time BCRA champion was quickly passed by fourth starting Nichols.

Foster, Dr. David Goodwill, and Redding's Alex Schutte, who entered the race five-for-five in BCRA dirt Midget races this year, had an intense competition for second all race long. Nichols, Foster, Goodwill, Schutte, and Bobby Wilson were the top-five finishers after a 6:55 race for BCRA.

Folsom's Jerry Kobza got a big come from behind win in the NCMA Sprint Cars to unofficially take the overall division championship for 2016 as well. Kobza overcame an incident in his heat race to come from shotgun on the field to win the 30 lap feature. Kobza was the third different leader of a busy main event.

Jeff Burrows started the race from the pole with Madera's Cody Jessop shooting up into second place from sixth starting position early on. Burrows' car owner Dan Ariaz spun in turn four to bring out the first caution on lap five. Jessop used that caution period to get past Burrows for the lead position.

Jessop pulled away while a great battle developed with Kobza taking over second from Burrows. Jessop had the race in hand before he lost a left rear wheel entering turn one to end his evening on lap 20.

Kobza assumed the top position and fended off points rival Denny Burrell of Ripon in a thrilling ten lap shootout down to the wire. Rocklin's John Mamula held on for third ahead of Ariaz the final of the finishing cars.

The CSS 360 Super Modifieds had one of their best programs of 2016 and it was a race about being in the right place at the right time. Clovis' AJ Russell took over the lead on the initial start from the 18 car of Lance Jackson who fell back to fourth early on.

Russell had a sizeable lead on the rest of the field while Bakersfield's Justin Tuey and the fast-time qualifier Chowchilla's Eric Humphries staged a great duel for second. That duel ended up being the duel for the lead when Russell blew his engine as he came to the conclusion of lap 15.

Tuey assumed the top position with Humphries in tow while Russell came to a stop about 30 feet inside turn one in the infield. The caution was waved on lap 20 when an incident in the infield between an official and a crew member caused additional attention. After the incident was resolved, the racing resumed hot and heavy up front with Tuey proving strong enough to get the victory head of Humphries, Jackson, Carl Mott, and Clovis' Austin Carter.

San Martin's Tom Patterson, 16 years old and known affectionately as "Mr. T.", earned his first USAC HPD Midget victory at LoanMart Madera Speedway leading all 30 laps. Patterson maintained a three-to-four car length advantage throughout the contest while double-duty racer Cody Jessop held off a furious pack including Jesse Love IV and the Briedinger sisters of Annie and Toni. Young rookie Joey Iest of Madera also kept his nose in the battle.

Love made numerous attempts to get around Jessop in a wildly entertaining battle. A spin on lap 20 involving Annie Breidinger gave the rest of the field another shot at Patterson, but he proved too strong en route to the five car length win. Jessop did a great job to get second ahead of the hard charging Love with Toni Briedinger and Iest the top-five.

The Twisted Tea Modifieds crowned their champion with Pleasanton's Rick Avila earning his first Madera championship.

The Harvest Classic opened on Friday night with the first champions of the season crowned. Matt Erickson fended off a tremendous 21 car field for the "local" Madera race, not part of the eight race LoanMart Open Late Model televised series. Rick Thompson, the 2015 Madera overall Late Model champion, finished sixth and it was enough to get the local track championship for the non-televised races of 2016. Erickson won Friday's 30 lap feature ahead of Modesto drivers Kyle Gottula and Aaron Coonfield, who were both making their Madera Late Model debuts for the year.

Clovis' Thomas Suarez had a third place effort in Hobby Stocks that was enough to earn him the local Madera Hobby Stock points championship as well. Multi-time track champion Howard Holden, also of Clovis, won Friday's main event ahead of Jesus Hernandez.
