Bakersfield, CA – MAVTV and Lucas Oil Productions will be on hand to once again to nationally televise the upcoming “Winter Showdown” at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, California.
The $180,000.00 Winter Showdown for Super Late Models/Tour Cars is one of the nation’s richest short-track events, with top drivers from throughout the nation already entered in the February 27th and 28th event. The two-day event will also feature the Lucas Oil Modified Series, which MAVTV will also televise.
“We’re happy to have the opportunity to be part of the Winter Showdown once again and showcase this great event on MAVTV,” stated MAVTV Director of Programming, Jason Patison. “The Winter Showdown has quickly become a premier event for short track racing and we’re proud to be part of it.”
The Winter Showdown will air on a taped delayed basis, with the air dates of the “Winter Showdown 250” and the Lucas Oil Modified event to be announced at a later date.
“Last year’s coverage of the Winter Showdown by MAVTV was outstanding,” stated the SRL’s Larry Collins, the director of the Winter Showdown. “We had a great race for television, and Bob Dillner and Ralph Sheheen did a great job calling the race.”

The 2016 Winter Showdown weekend will be headlined by the Sunday, February 28th $30,000 to win “Winter Showdown 250” for Super Late Models. Sunday will also feature the Last Chance Qualifier. Saturday, February 27th will feature; Super Late Model qualifying and qualifying races, along with a full program of the Lucas Oil Modified Series, featuring an 80 lap main event.
