SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (September 8, 2017) – The exciting title fight in the 2017 Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com hits its fever pitch with a pair of races at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA on tap. The Super Late Model touring series competes on the one-third mile asphalt oval on September 16 as a makeup race to an April rainout, before deciding its champion on October 14th at the speedway.
With eight races completed, Granite Bay’s John Moore leads Modesto’s Mike Beeler by only two points. The 2015 and 2014 champions respectively have run in close quarters all year long. Moore visited victory lane once this year in the Ron Strmiska Memorial 125 at Stockton 99 Speedway in July while Beeler is winless.
Eight different drivers have visited victory lane in the eight races, with John’s son Cole Moore among them. Cole won the June 17th event at Roseville for his first career Late Model win which bolstered the 2015 Rookie of the Year’s third place standing in the points. 2016 Rookie of the Year Matt Wendt is a close fourth in the standings after getting his first career win at Stockton last weekend. 2017 leading rookie Jack Wood of Loomis is ahead of his cousin Travis Milburn in the battle for fifth in the standings.
Drivers are eyeing the tenth round of the series on October 14th, which returns as a points race after two years as a non-points event. The PCS competes during the prestigious NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West weekend with the championship finale for the North State Modifieds and open shows for Bombers and F4/Skid Plate cars also on the menu. Perhaps the largest event at All American Speedway in at least 20 years should attract 100 race cars to the pits and 4,000 fans in the stands.
Pre-entry is open now with pre-entries accepted until October 6th to be eligible for a large number of lucrative contingency prizes. Entry forms are available at: http://pacificchallengeseries.com/wp-content/uploads/2017OctoberClassicEntry.pdf
Next Saturday’s Round #9 of the PCS sees an open practice on Friday evening before action on Saturday. Saturday night racing including a full card of Roseville divisions begins at 6 p.m. Adult tickets are $15, while children ages 6-15 and seniors are $7. Kids 5 and under are FREE.
