BMR and Bruncati Teams Will Once Again Do Battle at CNR

Via NASCAR Media

The rivalry between Bill McAnally Racing and Bruncati Racing will once again be tested this weekend at Colorado National Raceway. It will be the 12th straight season and the 16th visit of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.

CNR has held the Pro Series West every year since 2007. Drivers for McAnally's team since then have won six times. Their chief rival, BBR have two total wins at the speedway, one by Derek Thorn in 2013 and one by Ryan Partridge in 2015. It's quite possible that the winner of Saturday's race could come from either team.

Last year, McAnally's team finished in the top three positions at Colorado National RacewayFormer BMR driver Chris Eggleston won three times out of the last for seasons. NASCAR Next Driver Cole Rouse now drives for the same team Eggleston raced for.

The battle for the championship is tight with Partridge holds a lead of only three points over Thorn. Derek Kraus is only 12 markers behind Partridge while Rouse is 14 points in arrears to Partridge.

2018 has been a surprising year thus far. Kody Vanderwal swept both races at Tucson Speedway and is a title contender. Hailie Deegan is a BMR driver who ran well and led laps in the East Series event at Memphis International Raceway. Trevor Huddleston has posted three top 10 finishes in four starts in his Sunoco Rookie of the Year campaign and could be a big factor in the upcoming event.

Super Girl Zamora Thrills Fans at South Sound Speedway

Via NWSLMS Media

Rochester, WA (June 4, 2018) Nineteen-year-old Brittney Zamora (Kennewick, WA) battled a stellar field of veteran and rookie drivers to win the Northwest Super Late Models, Inc. (NWSLMS) second outing at South Sound Speedway. Last year’s NWSLMS Champion was the point leader heading into this event. The second-generation driver held fast for a green-white-checkered finish against the hard charging runner-up, Braeden Havens. In addition to the NWSLMS events, Zamora has been competing regularly at Evergreen Speedway in the Super Late Model division, as well as being a driver representative in the Alan Kulwicki Driver Development Program.

Bob Presley (Olympia, WA), Andy Sole (San Tan, AZ) and Chad Hinkle (Yakima, WA) rounded out the top 5 in the second event of the season.

Mitch Kleyn (Quincy, WA) and Brooke Schimmel (Woodland, WA) would bring the field to green after pole setter, Alan Cress drew lucky number 8 for the 125-lap invert. Kleyn battled for the lead with both Schimmel and Moriarity as the drivers jockeyed for position around and behind him. The inside groove proved to the be fastest way around the 3/8s mile oval. Drivers frequently lost positions, rather than gained once they were on the outside. Kleyn would keep the lead until lap 55 when Zamora made her presence known and took the inside groove for the lead. With Zamora came Havens to take over second position a few laps later. Kleyn and Schimmel were once again battling, this time for the same real estate. The two got together bringing out the yellow flag and sending both drivers to the back of the field.

Zamora was on cruise control with a ten-car lead over Havens and looking for the finish line, when Kurt Meyer spun bringing out the final caution of the night. This would set up the green-white-checkered drag race to the checkered. Zamora easily brought home her third career victory, completing her Alan Kulwicki Polish victory lap to cap off the night.

Bob Presley hovered in the top five throughout the event, staying out of trouble and able to bring home a third-place finish. Andy Sole shuffled back and forth through the field, settling in the fourth position at the checkered. Chad Hinkle recovered from an earlier spin and trip to the rear of the field to take the final position in the top five. Hinkle’s experience at South Sound Speedway was a key factor in getting him back to the front.

The NWSLMS Tour returns to action on July 20 & 21st at Montana Raceway Park for the 28th running of the Montana 200. This will be the series first trip to the high-banked 1/4 oval in Kalispell, Montana. Lucas Oil Summertime Horsepower Nationals At Madera

Scott Winters (#24) looks to return to Madera victory lane (Photo Courtesy Howard Twaddel)

MADERA, CALIFORNIA (June 5, 2018) – One of the top open-wheel events of the year is at the Madera Speedway this Saturday night with the “Lucas Oil Summertime Horsepower Nationals” led by features for both the Lucas Oil Modified Series and the North State Modifieds. In addition to the ground-pounding Modified excitement will be action for the USAC Western US Midgets, CSS 360 Super Modifieds, and Legends of Kearney Bowl.

Madera Speedway’s MAVTV cameras will roll for the Lucas Oil Modified Series 75 lap feature, while the North State Modified 60 lapper will be broadcast live on the Madera Speedway Facebook as well.

Taylor Miinch heads into the Spillvak 75 presented by Protect the Harvest with an impeccable record of three consecutive Lucas Oil Modified victories. The 2017 series champion has not yet won at Madera Speedway, however, but appears primed to do so after a dominating win in May at Las Vegas.

Former series champion Dylan Cappello has won twice at Madera and would like to return to victory lane after finishing second at Vegas. Scott Winters of Tracy is a two-time Madera Speedway champion in Modifieds including 2002 when he won the NASCAR Regional Title at the one-third mile. Winters is also a two-time Lucas Oil winner at Madera but last won at the track in 2015. He currently ranks a distant 14th in the championship fight and Madera could be the race to turn his fortunes around. Loomis’ Michael Mitchell is fifth in the standings with strong Madera ties with his team also running a two-car Mini Cup operation at the track.

The North State Modified Series has had a barnstorming year that was highlighted by a 27 car field at Anderson’s Shasta Speedway. Rio Linda’s Kris Price won the Shasta event and previously was a regular competitor in Madera’s Modified division a few years ago. He trails Randy Houston by three points in the standings. The Medford, OR racer has only one Madera North State start back in 2015, when he finished 17th.

Third in the North State battle is Sacramento’s Jason Philpot, the winner of round #2 at Eureka. Philpott has three straight podiums at Madera with North State including one win. Last year’s Madera North State race was won by Lucas Oil regular Matthew Hicks. Three-time defending series champion Darrin Knight has a Madera win on his resume as well.

Lance Jackson and Donnie Large have split the CSS 360 Super Modified races at Madera this year, with AJ Russell surprisingly locked out of victory lane. The battles will continue in their third race of the year on Saturday with a 30 lap feature scheduled.

The USAC Western US Midgets have been dominated by Adam Lemke of Hollister, who also competes in Madera’s RPM Mortgage Pro Late Model Series. Lemke is 3-0 in pavement competition this year. Youngsters Blake Brannon and Joey Iest, both graduates from quarter midget racing at the adjacent Good Times QMA, round out the top-three in the pavement points.

Legends of Kearney Bowl always present a strong turnout of vintage Super Modified excitement and will round out the exciting card.

This weekend’s activities begin with an open practice on Friday night. Gates open at noon with the track hot from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. On Saturday, pit gates open at 10:30 a.m. with practices beginning at 12:45 p.m. Qualifying follows at 2:45 p.m. with the first heat races and main events beginning at 5:00 p.m. Opening ceremonies are slated for 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are value priced at just $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $7 for youth ages 6-12, and kids five and under are free! Military are free for this special event!
