Trevor Huddleston Earns First Victory at Home Track in Photo Finish
Via NASCAR Media
IRWINDALE, Calif. — Trevor Huddleston couldn’t have picked a more dramatic way to score his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series West win.
Trevor Huddleston has been knocking on the door of his first career victory for some time, and he earned it, barely, at his home track of Irwindale Speedway in a photo finish over Tanner Gray in the ENEOS NAPA Auto 150.
“I’m still in shock,” Huddleston said. “That was absolutely insane. Me and him were bouncing off each other, we were bouncing off the wall, I mean I didn’t know if we won. I hit the wall and got the freakin’ wind knocked out of me and I was like ‘did we win?’ and we won. Unbelievable.”
Huddleston battled a hit-or-miss transmission for the final 100 laps, forcing him to drive for most of the race with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on the shifter.
Huddleston and Gray banged doors off Turn 4 to the start/finish line and the Augora Hills, California native was able to inch his No. 9 Sunrise Ford ahead of Gray’s No. 15 DGR Crosley Toyota. After claiming the checkered flag, Huddleston hit the wall and was unable to drive his machine back to Victory Lane.
Huddleston’s three Late Model track championships at Irwindale Speedway gave him a “one up on the field” leading into the 150-lapper. This event has been circled on his calendar for some time and to win his first race at the facility his father, Tim, operates made it that much sweeter.
“We’ve been preparing for this moment for a long time. I know this track hopefully better than anybody,” said Trevor Huddleston. “I’ve been raised here. To get this win means so much. To win in the K&N Pro Series is unbelievable. it’s got a stacked field. And to win like that, even better.”
In only his second career series start, Gray almost put it in Victory Lane. Coming from a drag racing background, he knew immediately he didn’t beat the No. 9 to the line but did all he could leading up to that.
“It was just really good racing between me, the No. 9 and the No. 16 (Derek Kraus),” Gray said. “This race track produces really good racing, Them putting PJ1 down on the bottom really helped. That was a lot of run. I feel like I was the only one who was really able to get down there and be as fast as I was. The deal we had coming to the line was unfortunate, but it was just both drivers coming using up all the race track trying to get there first. It wasn’t intentional; it’s racing.”
Kraus came home third after leading a handful of laps, but he lost brakes with around 30 laps to go, allowing Huddleston and Gray to get by. Jagger Jones and polesitter Hailie Deegan rounded out the top five finishers.
Cole Cabrera, Matt Levin, Brittney Zamora, Dylan Garner and Jack Wood completed the top 10.
The ENEOS NAPA Auto 150 is scheduled to be broadcasted on NBCSN Wednesday, April 3 at 6 p.m.
The next K&N Pro Series West will take place on Saturday, May 11 at Tucson Speedway.

PIT BOX: After One Year Hiatus, Irwindale Set to Host Round Two of K&N West Season
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After not visiting one of the most famous half-mile short tracks on the West coast last season, the K&N Pro Series West makes its highly anticipated return to Irwindale Speedway this weekend for round two of the 2019 season and the 26th event in series history at the California half-mile.
IRWINDALE 150 AT IRWINDALE
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Bill McAnally Racing’s trio of Hailie Deegan, Derek Kraus and Brittney Zamora will be up front: you can bank on that. The organization tested at Irwindale on March 7.
Last time the circuit went to the California half-mile, BMR secured three of the top four finishers. The only driver from BMR who competed in that event who will also be racing Saturday night is Kraus. He’ll look to improve upon his fourth-place effort at Irwindale in 2017, and his sixth-place finish after leading 60 laps in the season opening race in Las Vegas.
Deegan will look to build upon her early season momentum following the win at Las Vegas and go back-to-back. She is currently the points leader, becoming the first female in NASCAR history to lead the standings. Although she’s never raced at Irwindale in a K&N Pro Series vehicle, she does have some track time.
Zamora said all three BMR cars were within two tenths of each other when they tested. Having never raced on dirt before Las Vegas, she also is excited to be back on asphalt at a track she knows pretty well.
The Sunrise Ford duo of Jagger Jones and Trevor Huddleston may have more experience at Irwindale than anybody else in the field combined. Huddleston has won three track championships at the track (2015-2017) in a late model, and knows it like the back of his hand. His father, Tim, has also operated and managed the track since late 2018.
Jones is no stranger to the half-mile, either. He’s won there once in a late model and specifically pointed out this event as one he was looking forward to most leading into his rookie campaign. However, he still is new to these K&N cars. Luckily, he has a driver coach and spotter who knows a thing or two about racing at Irwindale in Ryan Partridge, who has never finished outside the top 10 in his three races.
Other drivers who competed in the 2017 event that will also be racing this weekend are Todd Souza (finished 10th), Matt Levin (finished 12th), Kody Vanderwal (finished 15th), Rich Delong III (finished 16th) and Takuma Koga (finished 19th). K&N East regular Tanner Gray will also make his first K&N West start, driving his No. 15 Toyota for DGR Crosley.
Fans who can’t make it to Irwindale on Saturday will get a chance to watch it live on FansChoice.TV. The race will air as a one-hour broadcast on NBCSN on Wednesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. ET.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series West 2019 Schedule Announced
Via NASCAR Media
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The 2019 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West schedule will kick off on the dirt of Las Vegas and culminate on the big stage in Phoenix, with a challenging mix of tracks in between that will test the top drivers and teams throughout the west.
The 14-race schedule will visit 13 different tracks in nine states from February to November. It will include two combination races with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and three companion races with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
“This is one of the most dynamic and diverse schedules we’ve had, and it’s going to be a lot of fun for fans of the series to watch their favorite drivers compete at a variety of venues,” said Brandon Thompson, NASCAR managing director for regional racing. “You have a tremendous mix of a dirt track, road course, historic bullrings and speedways that is sure to produce an exciting season.”
The 66th season of the series, which traces its roots back to the Pacific Coast Late Model Series, will kickoff with a distinct old school feel: racing stock cars on dirt. The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the Star Nursery 100 on Thursday, Feb. 28, as part of the track’s Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube NASCAR race weekend.
The inaugural Star Nursery 100 was won by eventual ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion Sheldon Creed and was the first NASCAR K&N Pro Series race on a dirt track since 1979.
The 2019 titlist will be crowned in a much-anticipated return to ISM Raceway as part of the track’s NASCAR Playoff weekend in November. The 1-mile track recently completed a $178 million renovation project and hosts the penultimate round of the NASCAR national series playoffs.
The K&N Pro Series West last ran in Phoenix in 2015, when Todd Gilliland scored his first career NASCAR win as a prelude to back-to-back West title campaigns. The track was also the site of 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano’s first NASCAR win in 2007 as well as Ryan Blaney’s first NASCAR win in 2011.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will also return to another popular stop: Irwindale Speedway, on Saturday, March 30. The graduated banking on the half-mile speedway outside of Los Angeles has produced thrilling racing since it first opened in 1999; it has hosted 26 events between 1999-2011, and from 2014-17.
Other schedule highlights include:
Tucson Speedway in Arizona will again host twin 100-lap features, on Saturday, May 11. Kody Vanderwal scored the underdog sweep in the inaugural 2018 event.
The series will race on the road course at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday, June 22, as part of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series weekend. Will Rodgers scored the win over a trio of Cup drivers in 2018.
Twice the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will go head-to-head with its East counterparts. The first is the annual stop at Iowa Speedway, on Friday, July 26, and the second as part of a doubleheader with the INDYCAR Series on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Gateway Motorsports Park, just outside of St. Louis.
The series will make its traditional summer visits to Colorado National Speedway (Saturday, June 8), Washington's Evergreen Speedway (Saturday, Aug. 17) and Oregon's Douglas County Speedway. Colorado has hosted the West series each of the last 12 seasons. Evergreen has held 56 races since 1965, including the last eight seasons. Douglas has held 16 West races, bringing the series to the fairgrounds each of the last three years.
Idaho's Meridian Speedway will bring the series back for the fifth consecutive year on Sept. 28, a run that included Hailie Deegan's historic first NASCAR win in 2018. It's followed by back-to-back California dates - first at the tight quarter-mile of All American Speedway in Roseville on Saturday, Oct. 12, and then the high-speed half-mile of Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield on Saturday, Oct. 26. All American has been part of the West series every season since 2008, while Kern will be hosting its 10th race since it opened in 2013.

Davey Hamilton, Jr. Readying For King Of The Wing At Irwindale, Kern
Via Davey Hamilton, Jr. PR
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (October 29, 2018) – 2016 King of the Wing National Champion Davey Hamilton, Jr. will return to Irwindale Speedway and Bakersfield’s Kern County Raceway Park this weekend driving Glenn Hutchison’s #8 Winged Sprint Car. Saturday and Sunday’s events serve as the series finale for 2018.
Hamilton, the third-generation driver from Boise, ID, is making a comeback to Irwindale after a serious crash last November. He battled hard for the lead with more than half a dozen lead changes before hitting the wall in turn two. Hamilton was able to escape from the car under his own power, but later had a lengthy recovery process from a severe concussion and broken ribs.
When he was approved by doctors to return to competition this spring, he didn’t waste any time getting up to speed. Hamilton set the pole for the prestigious Little 500 sprint car race at Anderson Speedway in Indiana and also made his Indianapolis Motor Speedway debut in the Freedom 100 for the Indy Lights.
“I can’t wait to get back to Southern California to see the great racing fans and the beautiful facilities we visit,” Hamilton said. “I believe we have a great shot to get back to victory lane and set our 2019 season off on the right foot as well!”
In September, he returned back to the seat of a Winged Sprint Car when competed with the King of the Wing at his home track Meridian Speedway in Idaho. With the rust knocked off, Hamilton looks prepared for his return on Saturday at Irwindale and Sunday at Kern. It will be Hamilton’s first appearance in a Sprint Car at the state-of-the-art Kern County Raceway Park since 2016 where he finished fourth and won the series title.
You can learn more about Davey Hamilton, Jr. on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. A complete 2019 schedule is expected to be released in December.

Gilliland Doubles Up At Irwindale Event Center
IRWINDALE, Calif. (March 25, 2017) - It was a clean night at Irwindale Event Center. And that's just how Todd Gilliland wanted it.
Leading the field from pole, and hot off a win in the first NAPA Auto Parts Twin 100 feature, the 16-year-old from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, held off a hard-charging Chris Eggleston to win for the third time in 2017 and 10th time in his NASCAR K&N Pro Series West career.
The victory, his second at Irwindale, also awards him a $10,000 prize for finishing in the top-three spots in the four-race NAPA 500 Challenge Series.
The NASCAR Next driver's win also marked Bill McAnally Racing's 14th victory at the California short-track.
With only one caution in the opening 92 laps, it looked as though it would come easy to the reigning K&N Pro Series West champion. However, a spin from Takuma Koga set up a mad dash to the checkered with four laps to go.
Eggleston, diving his No. 99 NAPA Filters Toyota into Turn 1, grabbed the race lead for the first time of the night from Gilliland... for about 40 feet.
A swift over-under maneuver from Gilliland and his No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota quickly gave him the lead back by the time they reached Turn 3.
Repeating the show with two laps to go, Eggleston was unable to make the move work for the win. A second-place finish marks the fourth straight top-five finish for the 28-year-old Erie, Colorado, native.
Michael Self, 26, from Park City, Utah, was the only other man to win anything Saturday at Irwindale, as he took the top spot in final practice in his No. 9 Sunrise Ford/Eibach Springs/Lucas Oil Ford. In the race, Self grabbed a third-place finish followed by Derek Kraus and Will Rodgers, who earns a fourth straight top five, in fifth.
Julia Landauer finished sixth with Garrett Archer, who rebounded from a start-line violation, Nicole Behar, Blaine Perkins and Todd Souza completing the top 10.
The NAPA Auto Parts Twin 100s will air on NBCSN, Saturday, April 1 7p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will be back in action May 13 at Washington's Spokane County Raceway.

Finishing 2.4 seconds in rears of the defending champion, Chris Eggleston put up a fight in his No. 99 NAPA Filters Toyota. Taking the lead on Lap 50, Eggleston lost the top spot to Gilliland with 33 laps to go. Still, the Tucson winner grabbed his fourth straight top-five finish with a second-place finish.
Garrett Archer came home third while Nicole Behar, who started from the rear, rallied back to finish fourth. The 19-year-old was followed by Will Rodgers, Solvang, California, native earned a third straight top-five finish in fifth.
The 100-lapper wasn't as easy for some competitors, however. Derek Kraus, who finished second to teammate Gilliland last time out at California's Kern County Raceway Park, cut a tire and crashed on Lap 17. The 15-year-old, Wisconsin, native finished 18th, nine laps down.
Jesse Iwuji retired due to engine failure while a two-car crash on Lap 58 collected Dan O'Donnell and Stafford Smith. Rookie Kody Vanderwal also spun in Turn 2, suffering no damage.
Michael Self, who won practice, finished sixth with Blaine Perkins, Johnny Borneman III, Matt Levin and Julia Landauer completing the top 10.
The NAPA Twin 100 will air on NBCSN Saturday, April 1 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will be back in action March 25, 2017 at 9:30 p.m. PT for the NAPA Auto Parts T-100, the second feature event of the night at Irwindale Event Center.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will hold three races in three days with the NAPA Auto Parts 150 at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, California, on Thursday, March 23, and the NAPA Twin 100s at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California, on Saturday, March 25. Below is a look at the three events and some of the selected participants.
NAPA Auto Parts 150 Race Setup:
• For the sixth time in history, Kern will host the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West after opening in 2013.
• Chris Eggleston of Erie, Colorado, holds the series point lead after winning the season-opening event last week in Tucson over Bill McAnally Racing teammate Todd Gilliland.
• Gilliland won the race at Kern from the pole last season.
• If Eggleston can win the NAPA Auto Parts 150, he will be halfway to winning the $100,000 NAPA 500 Challenge Series.
NAPA Twin 100s Race Setup:
• The K&N Pro Series West will hold two 100-lap events at Irwindale, with each standing as a separate points-paying event.
• Todd Gilliland won the only race at Irwindale in 2016, the season opener, to become the sixth different winner at the track over the last six races there.
• The races are the final two races in the NAPA 500 Challenge Series, which promises a $100,000 bonus to the driver who can win all four races to begin the season.
At Kern County Raceway Park:
History:
• Kern County opened in 2013 with a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event.
• The track has held one K&N West race each year since its opening, with the lone exception being the 2014 season when it held two races.
• Greg Pursley is the only repeat winner at Kern.
At Irwindale Speedway:
History:
• Irwindale Speedway opened in March 1999 and has capacity for 6,500 spectators.
• The facility is in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California and is just 25 minutes from downtown Los Angeles.

Kern & Irwindale Notebook:
• This is the series’ sixth event at Kern and the 25th race in its history at Irwindale.

Teams Look to Hit Stride With Three Races in Three Days
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 20, 2017) — Just five days after kicking off the 2017 season at Tucson Speedway, NASCAR K&N Pro Series West teams will be put to the test with three races in a three-day span to close out the NAPA 500 Challenge series.
The series heads to Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, California, for the NAPA Auto Parts 150 on Thursday, March 23, before rolling to Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California, for the NAPA Auto Parts Twin 100s on Saturday, March 25. The Twin 100s will stand as two separate points-paying events.
2015 K&N West champion Chris Eggleston got his season started on the right foot, holding off his Bill McAnally Racing teammate Todd Gilliland — last season’s series champion — to win at Tucson on Saturday. If he can sweep the tripleheader this week, he would earn the $100,00 prize that comes with capturing all four legs of the NAPA 500 Challenge.
It won’t be easy for Eggleston. Gilliland led 70 of the 150 laps at Tucson after winning the pole for the season opener. Rookie Garrett Archer, in a Jefferson Pitts Racing Ford, was a strong contender at Tucson, Zane Smith and Will Rodgers. Of the drivers entered at Kern and Irwindale, only Eggleston and Gilliland have won races at either track.

FAST FACTS:
The Races: NAPA Auto Parts 150 and the NAPA Auto Parts Twin 100s will be the second, third and fourth of 14 races on the 2017 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West schedule.
The Procedures: For all three events, the maximum starting field is 26 cars, including provisionals. The first 22 cars will secure starting positions based on the group qualifying process. The remaining four spots will be awarded through the provisional process. At Kern, the race will be 150 laps (75 miles) with a five minute break occurring at or near the conclusion of lap 75. At Irwindale, following the conclusion of the first 100-lap race, there will be an approximately 90-minute break for teams to prepare for the second event and get through pre-race technical inspection.
NAPA 500 Challenge: The NAPA Auto Parts 150 at Kern is the second race in a four-race “NAPA 500 Challenge Series.” With the K&N West competing in four events over an eight-day stretch to begin the season, NAPA is offering a $100,000 bonus to any driver to win all four races. $10,000 will be given to any driver who can finish in the top 3 in all four events; $5,000 to any driver finishing in the top 5 in all four; and $1,000 to a driver who finishes in the top 10 in all of them. The series finishes with the Twin 100s at Irwindale on Saturday.
The Tracks: Kern County Raceway Park sits on 120 acres and opened on May 18, 2013 with a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event. It’s a half-mile oval with progressive banking of 12 to 14 degrees in turns and eight degrees on the front and backstretches. Irwindale Speedway is a half-mile paved oval with progressive banking of between six and 12 degrees in the corners and six degrees in the straights. Located in the San Gabriel Valley, Irwindale is just 25 minutes from downtown Los Angeles and features multiple racing configurations with half-mile and third-mile ovals along with a 1/8-mile drag strip.
Race Winners: There have been four different winners in the five previous K&N West races at Kern. Greg Pursley, the only repeat winner at the track, won the first two races held there. Todd Gilliland, winner of last year’s race at the track, is the only active driver with a win at Kern. There have been 14 different winners in the previous 24 races at Irwindale, with Austin Cameron owning five career wins at the track. NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Brendan Gaughan and Jason Bowles each have three wins there.
Pole Winners: There have been four different pole winners in the five previous races at Kern, with Greg Pursley winning two of them. At Irwindale, there have been 15 different pole winners in 24 previous races. Jason Bowles won three poles, while six drivers all have two.
NAPA Auto Parts 150/NAPA Auto Parts Twin 100s Notes:
Teamwork: The two most recent champions in the K&N Pro Series West, Bill McAnally Racing teammates Chris Eggleston and Todd Gilliland, were the class of the field in the season-opening event at Tucson Speedway. Eggleston was fastest in practice, Gilliland won the pole and the two drivers started on the front row, led all the laps and were running first and second at the checkered flag. Teammate Derek Kraus finished sixth. As they head into the three events this week, history is also on their side. Of all active drivers in the series, only Eggleston (Kern) and Gilliland (Kern, Irwindale) have wins at either of the two tracks
Rookie Roll Call: Series rookies finished in positions three through eight at Tucson. Garrett Archer, Zane Smith and Will Rodgers finished in the top five, with Kraus, Brandon Schilling and Kody Vanderwal finishing behind that trio. Archer’s third-place finish came in only his second career series start. The learning curve will be steep this week: None of that impressive rookie crop has ever made a start at either Kern or Irwindale.
Right Direction: Blaine Perkins has never finished in the top 15 at either Kern or Irwindale, but he’s coming off a solid 11th-place showing at Tucson and he has some history on his side at Irwindale. Crew chief and car owner Steve Portenga has two career wins at Irwindale as a driver, including the inaugural K&N West race at the track in 1999. Over the two wins, the second of which came in 2005, Portenga led 150 of the 400 laps he completed.
Heading West: The first third of the K&N Pro Series West schedule coincides with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and its “NASCAR Goes West” swing, which began in Las Vegas and Phoenix and continues through Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Four of the top six drivers in the Cup Series standings have won K&N West races in their careers — including point leader Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney — while Kevin Harvick (who is seventh in the current standings) was the 1998 series champion and is a native of Bakersfield, California. Both Blaney and Logano won their first career NASCAR races in K&N West competition.
NASCAR Home Tracks: Kern County Raceway Park/Irwindale Speedway
Kern County Raceway Park opened in 2013 and hosted a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event on its opening day, and today hosts Late Model, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Spec Modified divisions. Irwindale holds bi-weekly NASCAR events, including Late Model, Trucks and Spec Late Model divisions.

Lucas Oil Modified Series Unveils Schedule For 2017 Season
Corona, California (January 19, 2017) - A 10-round battle for the championship, two lucrative special events and four dates combining the West Coast's top touring divisions are the highlights of the 2017 schedule for the Lucas Oil Modified Series.
It begins February 11 with the third Winter Showdown on the ultra-fast half-mile oval at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, California, and ends with the traditional West Coast Short Track Championships at The Bullring at Las Vegas (Nevada) Motor Speedway November 18.
Those special events, two of the four in which the exciting open-wheel Modifieds will share headline status with the SRL Southwest Tour's Super Late Models, are the bookends for the 10 races that will determine the series' Hoosier Tire West points champion.
Those 10 races will take the series back to the eight tracks in four states that produced the closest points race in the series' 11-year history in 2016. A record eight different drivers had parked in the winner's circle and the points lead had changed hands a record four times before Lakeside, California's, Matthew Hicks emerged with a 4-point win over Taylor Miinch, with Scott Winters 10 points back in third.
The smallest winning margin previously had been the 12 points that separated champion Jim Mardis and runner-up Austin Barnes in 2011.
"We're looking forward to another extremely competitive season," series promoter Greg Scheidecker said. "We think the tracks in our series offer the most varied racing you'll find in any touring series and the results would seem to indicate it's also the best racing you'll find. That's ultimately a tribute to our drivers and teams, of course, but we've tried to help them as much as possible by maintaining continuity and familiarity.
"The dates of this year's races almost mirror last year's, but we have changed the track rotation a little. One reason for that was so we could say yes to the opportunity to headline the show at Kern County on the weekend before the Fourth of July, and we had to make a change at Orange Show Speedway. We've moved that race two weeks later, to September 23, because of a date conflict with the National Orange Show that would have impacted our race teams and fans.
"Changing the date there means we'll close the regular season with three events in five weeks. That's asking a lot of our teams, but they've shown over and over that they're the best around. It definitely will add some drama to those last three races."
The 2017 schedule for the Lucas Oil Modified Series:
February 11 - Kern County Raceway Park, 1/2-mile oval, Bakersfield, California*
March 11 - Havasu 95 Speedway, 1/4-mile oval, Lake Havasu City, Arizona
April 8 - Tucson Speedway, 3/8-mile oval, Tucson, Arizona
May 20 - The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 3/8-mile oval, Las Vegas
June 10 - Madera Speedway, 1/3-mile oval, Madera, California
July 1 - Kern County Raceway Park, 1/2-mile oval, Bakersfield, California
July 22 - Rocky Mountain Raceways, 3/8-mile oval, West Valley City, Utah
August 19 - Irwindale Speedway, 1/2 mile oval, Irwindale, California
September 23 - Orange Show Speedway, 1/4-mile oval, San Bernardino, California
October 7 - Madera Speedway, 1/3-mile oval, Madera, California
October 28 - Havasu 95 Speedway, 1/4-mile oval, Lake Havasu City, Arizona
November 18 - The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 3/8-mile oval, Las Vegas*

The Sam Nichols Electric Factory Stocks will abandon their usual paved oval race this Saturday and will instead race on the speedway's one-eighth mile dirt infield course thereby adding to their usual level of racing excitement.
Three time main event winner Jeff Prieur goes into Saturday afternoon leading the Factory Stock standings with 303 points. He holds a 22 point lead over Chris Blackwell in second and is 26 points ahead of feature winner Jose Guevara.
The Flowers Assisted Living Assisted Living Team Factory Stocks is a concept featuring three rotating drivers. With two feature wins, Team EWWWWEEEE leads the division standings with 108 points. Team Take and Bake along with the Vista Cruisers are tied for second 13 points away from the leaders. The Asphalt Junkies holds down fourth 14 points out of first.
Two time main event winner Madision Gay leads the Office Cocktail Lounge Bandoleros standings with 240 points but only commands a six point lead over Brock Rogers himself a feature winner. Also a factor here is main event winner Cody Kiemele who holds down third in the rankings just 12 points out of first.

Schedule In Place For Another Close, Exciting Title Fight
Corona, California (January 6, 2017) – A 10-round battle for the championship, two lucrative special events and four dates combining the West Coast's top touring divisions are the highlights of the 2017 schedule for the Lucas Oil Modified Series.
February 11 – Kern County Raceway Park, 1/2-mile oval, Bakersfield, California*
March 11 – Havasu 95 Speedway, 1/4-mile oval, Lake Havasu City, Arizona

June 10 – Madera Speedway, 1/3-mile oval, Madera, California
July 1 – Kern County Raceway Park, 1/2-mile oval, Bakersfield, California
July 22 – Rocky Mountain Raceways, 3/8-mile oval, West Valley City, Utah

Happy New Year Irwindale Speedway
By Dave Grayson
Christmas 2016 came early for the management, staff and fans of the Irwindale Event Center, (IEC), with the announcement that said there is going to be a 2017, fully loaded, racing season the famed track located in Irwindale, CA. The incredible news came at a time when the track was condemned to execution by bulldozer, set for July of 2016, to prepare the way for a shopping mall.
The news, regarding the IEC's 2017 season, came in late October via a press release fro Jim Cohen, IEC President and CEO, who announced that the track would be scheduling a full 2017 season for their NASCAR sanctioned stock car racing on their oval tracks, the NHRA sanctioned drag strip as well as the LA Racing Experience and Advanced Driving Dynamics.
"Everyone here on the IEC team are very pleased that we've been able to make this announcement today," said Cohen. "We will be continuing with our Thursday Night Drags, NASCAR Whelen All American Series and Nights Of Destruction, along with special events such as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, Hot VW Drags Day, the NHRA Summit Series, Truckin' For Kids, Formula Drift Championship and Mooneyes all being presented on their traditional calendar dates."
The end of racing at the IEC dates back to 2013 when it was announced that the Lindom Company, a real estate investment firm, had purchased the 63 acre site occupied by the IEC with the intent to build a 700,000 square foot shopping mall. The Lindom announcement further stated they expected to break ground and start construction on the project in July of 2016.
Now under the working title of Irwindale Outlet Partners LLC, The Irwindale City Council made very quick work of approving the project's development plans, and necessary permits, during the course of one meeting. It's considered to be very rare for this process to garner approval so quickly, a fact that did not escape the notice of audience observers.
However, in all fairness, it's important to consider the fact that this project represented a win - win scenario for the city at a time when the trickle down effect of California's budget woes was creating financial havoc on its cities. The Irwindale City Council's first obligation is to the city they represent and the residents who live there. It was perfectly understandable that the Council was going to make quick work of approving a project that was going to create approximately 2,000 jobs along with an estimated annual sales tax revenue of $2.6 million per year.
At the beginning of 2016 the IEC prepared a partial schedule, through the month of July, anticipating the start of construction of the outlet mall. The first of two surprises came when Outlet Partners LLC informed the IEC they could go ahead and run a full 2016 racing season. The second surprise came when the IEC learned they would be allowed to schedule a full 2017 season.
Throughout this long process Outlet Partners LLC made it clear that they would not dismantle the track, and start construction on the mall, until they had signed leases from retailers to occupy at least 65 percent of the store fronts. In recent months there has been speculation indicating they may be having trouble reaching that 65 percent goal and that's why they green lit IEC racing for the 2017 season. There is also speculation that says the 63 acre site has been placed on the real estate market again. Outlet Partners LLC has, understandably, declined comment on these two issues.
The IEC treated their fans to a high quality 2016 racing season and, by the looks of their fully loaded 2017 schedule, we can expect more of the same this year. Happy new year IEC, we the fans are looking to the new season.

Dave Grayson's Hot Racing Tickets For November 19th
LAS VEGAS BULLRING. 3/8 MILE. LAS VEGAS, NV. www.lvms.com/bullring. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH.
I've always said that the words racing and Las Vegas belongs in the same sentence. Per a long standing tradition, the Las Vegas Bullring will be presenting their annual, season closing, West Coast Short Track Championships this Saturday night. This event is loaded with some of the best driving talent from the western states and will feature the Spears SRL Southwest Tour, The Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series and the RACE CAR Factory Spec Late Models. Put it all together and it's going to be another stellar night of stock car racing in Las Vegas.
The highlight of the evening will be the Spears SRL Southwest Tour's 2016 season finale. The Retro Custom Metals 150, presented by the Pinnacle Peak Steak House, is expected to be a very intense affair. That's largely due to the $10,000 check that goes to the race winner. In recent days SRL officials announced that a beautiful, custom made, cupola will also be presented to the race winner. Described as a copper masterpiece, this winner's cup is valued at $6,000 and is courtesy of race sponsor Retro Custom Metals.
As far as the series' points championship goes, it appears that Derek Thorn, and his Campbell Motorsports team, is in good shape to take another series title based on five main event wins this season. The Lakeport, California driver has won previous series championships in 2012 and 2014 and is the winningest driver in the SRL. He goes into Saturday night's race with a healthy points lead over two time winner Ryan Cansdale.
The Lucas Oil Production Studios will be in Las Vegas Saturday night to film the race for the company owned MAV TV Motorsports Network. The race will be presented for national broadcast on January 24th.
Making an equally impressive appearance Saturday will be the Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by Loan Mart. This outstanding regional touring series will be treating their fans to the running of the 51 FIFTY Energy Drink 101, presented by Optima Batteries. This race will be ran in two segments. The first segment, laps 1 through 51, will be ran early in the evening. The final 50 lap segment will be ran later that night and will determine the race winner.
Championship points are not a part of the equation on Saturday night. Matthew Hicks took care of winning the series' championship, at the Arizona based Havasu 95 Speedway, back on October 29th. That means the Las Vegas race is about major bragging rights along with a $4,000 winner's check.
This race will be carried live Saturday night on Lucas Oil Racing (Dot) TV. This recently launched live stream computer broadcast system features high level broadcast quality that is well worth the very budget friendly priced subscription rates. The broadcast is scheduled for 8pm eastern time.
The Las Vegas racing weekend will begin on Friday night with an open practice session, for all divisions, from 2pm to 9pm. The grandstands will be available to the fans free of charge Friday night. On Saturday the spectator gates will open at 2pm. The day begins with qualifying followed by twin heat races from the RACE CAR Factory Spec Late Models and a 40 lap B Main from the Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series. Official opening ceremonies will be held at 5pm followed by the start of main events from the three racing divisions.
General admission tickets are $12. There are also discounts available for kids, age six to 12, as well as seniors and military personnel. A budget friendly family four pack is also available. Fans can save money on available ticket packages by visiting the speedways tickets office or by calling 1 800 644 4444. Advance tickets can also be ordered through the speedway's website or through Ticketmaster.
In still more good news is the fact that the Las Vegas Bullring has an extremely fan friendly concession stand that features $2 hot dogs and Cola Cola products along with $3 Budweiser products.
IRWINDALE EVENT CENTER. 1/8 MILE DRAG STRIP. IRWINDALE, CA. www.irwindalespeedway.com THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH.
