NWSLMS Opener Moves to Wenatchee 200

SPOKANE, Wash. (April 14, 2020)–Officials with the Northwest Super Late Model Series and Wenatchee Valley Super Oval have agreed to move the Leonard Evans 150 series opener to late May and the scheduled Wenatchee 200 weekend.

The new date is set for May 23 and the night will be presented by Leonard Evans Used Car Super Store. NWSLMS drivers will be chasing the coveted Leonard Evans license plate framed trophy in addition to a considerable payday.

“Being able to have our track partners work with us in the off-season to create a solid season schedule opened the door for this race date move,” said NWSLMS Director, Jarrod Goodwin. “We had space in the month of May to hold a race, with the state closing all non-essential activities until least early May it made sense for Wenatchee Valley and the series to come together on this new date.”

If all comes together as planned, the series will hold its opener on May 23, then move to the South Sound 125 on June 6 and continue with its schedule through the remainder of the year.

“When we put the schedule together for 2020, having some space between dates in partnership with tracks across the region was done well before COVID-19. Now, in hindsight having the gaps in the schedule gives us opportunities to move things around if need be with our later dates all while competing in our six-race format,” Goodwin added.

The unpredictable nature of scheduling for tracks also creates opportunities to add to or bring on new dates.

‘We’re going to do whatever we can on behalf of the series and our track partners to keep racing alive in the Northwest region. We’ll be there when asked and can adjust if needed,” according to Goodwin.

The Wenatchee 200 presented by Leonard Evans Used Car Super Store is set for a one-day show on May 23 and features the stars of the Northwest Super Late Model Series and those of the Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval divisions.
