Bakersfield, CA – Today, the contract was signed for a second race date for the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series at Irwindale Speedway in 2016. The second date is Saturday, June 18th.

“Irwindale was not planning a race on June 18th, so we’re leasing the facility to put on the event,” stated Brian Olsen of the SRL. “Irwindale is a great track for our series and no one’s sure how long the track is going to be here, so a second date was important to us.”

The 2016 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series season started with the “Winter Showdown”, a non-points race on February 28th. With the addition of the second Irwindale Speedway date, the 2016 championship season will now feature nine points paying events, beginning this weekend at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will visit six tracks in 2016, including; two appearances at the Bullring on April 9th and November 19th, two dates at Irwindale Speedway on April 30th and June 18th, two at Kern County Raceway on May 21st and October 29th, one stop at Madera Speedway on July 16th, once at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka, California on August 6th and once at the series newest venue, Tucson Speedway on September 17th.
