Kern County's home to NASCAR will be presenting the long awaited 2016 season opener this Saturday night and they're opening on an extremely strong note because the famed NASCAR K&N Pro Series West is coming to Bakersfield for a visit. The West Series will be treating their fans to the NAPA Auto Parts 150. Also pegging the excitement meter will be the presence of the raceway's Super Stock, Legend Car and 911 divisions.

The evening will conclude with a special, Bakersfield style, fireworks display. All of this fun is being presented by KGET TV 17 the local NBC affiliate. The racing starts at 630pm. General admission tickets, age 16 plus, are $15 and with the West Series in town that's a bargain. Youth tickets, age six to 15, along with tickets for seniors, age 65 plus, and military personnel, with a valid ID, $10. Reserved seating, which can be arranged online, is $20.

It's NASCAR opening night at the IEC and they will be presenting a night of NASCAR Whelen All American Series. On the racing agenda will be the Seidner's Collision Centers Irwindale Race Trucks, the Pick Your Part Late Models, the Legend Cars, Bandoleros, Mini Stocks, Super Stocks and the Seidner's Collision Centers Skid Plate Series.

On Saturday race night the gates will open at 4pm with racing receiving the green flag at 7pm. General admission tickets are available at the pre sale discount price of $10 which can be obtained online or by visiting the speedway office. General admission tickets on race night will be priced at $15 with children's tickets priced at $5,

Thursday night, March 31st, is also going to be very busy at the IEC. That's when the Irwindale Speedway becomes transformed into "The House Of Drift." Thursday Night Drift, presented by Formula Drift, is open to all and the slideways, rubber burning, action will run from 5 to 9pm. Driver entry fees are $75, spectator tickets are $10.

Also on March 31st, the backstretch of the half mile oval will be turned into a one-eighth mile drag strip and become the home of Irwindale's NHRA Thursday Night Thunder. This is a program that sends the powerful message: "race the strip and not the street. The gates will open at 4pm with racing from 5 to 10pm. Driver entry fees are a budget friendly $20 to race all night and $10 to watch them race all night.

Anytime officials from the fastest one third mile in the west opens their spectator gates it automatically become a hot ticket. That's because the racing at Loan Mart Madera is that good. They're going to prove that point once again with a massive open wheel show titled the Pombo Sargent Classic, presented by Allied Storage and Containers. The racing will be provided by the Senior Open Vintage Super Modifieds, BCRA Midgets, USAC HPD Midgets, NMCA Sprints, the Legends of Kearney Bowl, the BCRA Vintage Midgets, the CSS 300 Super Modifieds and CURA Vintage Series.

General admission tickets, age 13 plus, are $15. Youth tickets, age six to 12 are $7 while kids five and under will be admitted free. The day at Loan Mart Madera begins with practice at 2pm, qualifying at 415pm, heat races at 6pm followed official opening ceremonies and main events at 7pm.

The most scenic quarter mile paved oval in the southwest will be presenting "April Racin' Fools Night" on Saturday. Highlighting the on track action will be the Get It In Gear Street Stocks who will be resolving their season championship on this day. Drivers Gavin Bucy and Bobby Keirns will start Saturday's final racing tied in the championship standings. Making this situation even more interesting is the fact that the Street Stocks will be running twin, 25 lap, main events.

Also on the track this Saturday will be the Maintenance Solution Team Factory Stocks, featuring lady drivers only, who will also be resolving their championship run. The Sam Nichols Electric Factory Stocks will also see action along with the speedway's new Tough Truck program.

All of this fun is being presented by Campbell's Redi Mix and Big O Tires. The spectator gates will open at 5pm with the racing going green at 7pm. General admission tickets, age 17 and up, are $12. Tickets for seniors, military personnel and the handicapped are priced at $10. Kids tickets, age six to 16 , are $6. Additionally, Lake Havasu Unified School District students can receive a one dollar discount by presenting their school ID's at the ticket gate. Kids five and under will be admitted free. The speedway also offers a budget friendly family pack, for $25, which admits two adults and two kids. Fans can also enjoy the amenities of the track's VIP section for $25.
